DrupalCon Barcelona 2024! JAKALA's Key Takeaways

JAKALA recently attended DrupalCon Barcelona (where we also sponsored and presented the Women In Drupal Award), and what a time we had! 

Not only did we get to spend time with some of our talented partners and have our experts give talks on all things Drupal, but we also got to meet so many great and likeminded people. Our team had a brilliant time, so thank you to everyone involved who made it one to remember. 

If you couldn't make it, here are some of our key takeaways from the event. 

Women in Drupal Award 2024

We were so pleased Kitt Ralkov, Managing Director Experience, HR, and Marketing for JAKALA, could present the Women in Drupal Award for the third year. 

This is an excellent initiative to highlight women in tech and encourage more women to join the community. Together with the Drupal Association, we've continued this important award to highlight female talent and raise awareness of the underrepresentation of women in the industry.

This year's winners were:

DrupalCon Presentations and Next Location

DrupalCon brings together thousands of global Drupal users, developers, designers, and supporters annually. This year, over 1,300 digital experts gathered to share ideas, contribute to Drupal, and drive innovation.

DrupalCon Barcelona featured 100+ workshops, presentations, and keynotes over three days, including nine talks by JAKALA experts. The event catered to developers, content creators, marketers, and more. At the closing ceremony, Vienna was revealed as the host city for DrupalCon Europe 2025.

One of the standout presentations came on September 24th, when Drupal and Acquia founder Dries Buytaert delivered an inspiring keynote on the development of Drupal CMS. The presentation showcased its progress, event-building features, SEO tools, and AI-powered site-building enhancements.

JAKALA at DrupalCon 

At DrupalCon, JAKALA’s booth was designed to foster engagement with attendees. It featured a presentation area for five lightning sessions with our experts and a conversation space, encouraging visitors to talk and discuss thoughts and ideas. 

To better understand the audience, we introduced an opinion wall, where attendees voted with stickers representing their area of expertise. The topics included key priorities in current Drupal projects, see what members of the community had to say below. Thanks to everyone for all of your input!
